BAE sets sights on web trading

…………Catering group Heritage Portfolio is also gunning for the e-business award following last year’s successful launch of its internet-based Beetroot Blue food delivery offshoot.

Executive director Mark Miller says: "This is a unique way of servicing an element of our business that’s predominantly aimed at the office and boardroom, but also private customers.

"People can go on the beetrootblue.com website, see the food, order it and pay for it."

The choice of menus ranges from platters of sandwiches to marmalade chicken drumsticks and chocolate fudge cake, and thirsty office staff can even order a can of Coke or a case of Beck’s beer.

Mr Miller adds: "It’s going extremely well. Our first job was to convert as many of our existing clients as possible. Now we have all of them on board and we’re adding customers all the time."

Heritage Portfolio was formed towards the end of 2002 following the merger of Heritage Hospitality and Portfolio Catering, which was founded in 1993 and headed by Mr Miller.
