Eleven years on and Heritage Portfolio are still forging the way in creative catering at the EIBF – a three week long event which attracts writers and visitors from around the globe. 2011 is a bit special with a revolutionary approach to dealing with the disposable packaging which is inevitable with large-scale outdoor catering: practically everything we use at the Book Festival in our two cafes and the Authors’ Yurt, from packaging and cutlery to plates and napkins is now compostable – an achievement we’re very proud of.
As well as devouring the hundreds of books launched at the Festival, visitors have also been tucking into an equally stimulating array of dishes, including Feta, Roasted Squash and Spice-scented Couscous Salad; Chicken, Chorizo and Rocket rustic rolls, and Moroccan Lamb Tagine, although our own best sellers (surely rivalling any Booker prizewinner in popularity) would be our Shetland Smoked Salmon & Smoked Haddock fishcakes and the now legendary Heritage Portfolio Belgian chocolate brownie – the perfect accompaniment to a gripping read. . .
We've popped a few pictures of the cafes we ran at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on our FaceBook page - you can view them here
