Picture Perfect....

Alright, so a gigantic walk-in fridge might not be everyone’s idea of heaven, but our team can’t help gazing at our newly installed kitchen at the National Portrait Gallery and sighing with pleasure.

What was an empty shell is now a state of the art (as befits its location) cook’s dream, planned down to the finest detail. Contemporary, gleaming, light and airy, it’s our own Grand Design and it’s already making our cooks very, very happy.

We hope our customers will feel the same way once the Gallery opens on December 1st with the Heritage Portfolio signature ‘made from scratch’ menu. You can walk miles going round a gallery so plenty of reasons to tuck into a proper lunch – choose from delicious mains to keep you going, hearty soups and innovative salads to snazzy sandwiches that go to the next level with proper bread and award-winning fillings.

And of course, our own Old Masters on the baking front: chocolate brownies and famous fresh-from-the-oven scones are just two of the classics we will be relaunching at the new café. Obviously we’ve had to test the recipes in those shiny stainless steel ovens many times (any excuse, really) and how kind of the curatorial staff to help us out with the sampling – they were more than happy to wolf down the latest batch – noble indeed. . .
