albarino, castel de bouza, 2007, spain
produced by a cooperative of just 5 vineyard owners, castel de bouza have access to great fruit from which they make classic albarino. bright, citrussy and minerally on the nose with a crisp, almost riesling like character on the palate with hints of lemon and mineral. brilliant seafood or shell fish partner!

riesling, clearwater, 2005, new zealand
marlborough may be famous for its sauvignon blanc but the waipara region close to christchurch is now home to many of the best rieslings. here, the long, coolish season allows for long ripening times leading to great complexity of flavour. this is a dry, steely riesling with crisp, limey character with touches of citrus and toast.
