National Trust for Scotland Venue
Wedding Open Day October 2011
Rising from the ruins of an early medieval castle Falkland Palace, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture became one of the most important royal residences in Scotland. It was home to successive generations of Stuarts, including James IV, Mary, Queen of Scots and her son James VI.
The imposing gatehouse provides an impressive entrance to the Palace and grounds, with the colourful formal gardens being popular for parties during the summer months. There is a unique opportunity to entertain up to 120 guests within the Palace walls and it is possible to erect a 'Royal Marquee' on the first floor of the palace ruins, giving fantastic views over the gardens and Fife countryside beyond. For even larger numbers (up to 500 guests), exclusive marquees can be set up in the orchard. Less formal events for 50 can take place in the Council Chamber, a short walk from the Palace.
