One of Edinburgh’s finest Georgian buildings on the city’s historic Royal Mile
The Signet Library is situated in the very heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town and is considered one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the country. The building is the property of the Society of Writers to her Majesty’s Signet and since its completion in 1822 the Society has continually adapted the building to meet the demand of changing times.
The 44m long Upper Library is a magnificent setting for any function and has been used for a variety of events from banquets to a film set.
The Lower Library is in daily use as a law library but is especially appropriate for reception drinks prior to, or after, an evening function in the Upper Library.
Small dinners or lunches can be accommodated in the Commissioners’ Room, while meetings can be held in the Arbitration and Seminar Rooms.
