The Stables Kitchen

A short trip from Edinburgh to South Queensferry takes you back in time to the 18th century splendour of Hopetoun House, one of Scotland’s finest stately homes.

The Stables Kitchen is the perfect destination for a delicious lunch, scrumptious cream tea or a tasty treat at any time of day.

We're open in the spring and summer months, offering deliciously fresh seasonal fare with bright, friendly counter service and no need to book ahead. We treat our guests like family, extending to the casual but comfortable décor with large cushiony sofas and long shared tables, plus small tables and seats for the wee ones to enjoy a fun-filled lunchbox.

Tuck into Scottish home-style favourites like pork and haggis sausage rolls or Cullen Skink. Naturally, there's also a tempting range of sweet treats and snacks - including our famous knickerbocker glories - as well as fresh artisan coffee and tea.

Why not celebrate a special occasion by booking our Afternoon Tea? A generous selection of sweet and savoury treats is served alongside bottomless tea or coffee, or even an indulgent glass of fizz. Little ones our offered their very own Kids Afternoon Tea - so all the family can enjoy a traditional foodie day out.

Four-legged friends are equally welcome, with our 'posh pooches' menu featuring choice meaty morsels from the local Hopetoun farm shop.

You can also purchase a house or grounds pass to spend the day at this fabulous five-star visitor attraction. Enjoy scenic walks and nature trails within the beautiful grounds and discover the stunning collections that fill the spectacular Hopetoun House.
