A Night of Fashion and Flavour: Beyond the Little Black Dress

In September, Heritage Portfolio proudly hosted an unforgettable dining experience in celebration of the 'Beyond the Little Black Dress' exhibition at The National Museums Scotland. This exclusive event explored the little black dress's impact on fashion and society, bringing together timeless design icons and bold contemporary creations.

The event was meticulously planned by Senior Event Designer Jonathon, who infused his expertise in fashion into every detail, creating an atmosphere that embodied the exhibition’s elegance and sustainability themes. Held in the stunning Grand Gallery—a space that celebrates both architectural beauty and capacity—the event was transformed into a vintage-inspired haberdashery wonderland. Collaborating with Planet Flowers, the decor featured a mix of delicate florals, antique pattern pieces, and vintage-inspired elements, paying homage to the history of design while celebrating contemporary creativity.

To elevate the evening, bespoke touches were included, with menus presented as garment pattern pieces enclosed in custom-designed envelopes. Each menu included a quote by Karl Lagerfeld: “One is never overdressed or underdressed with a little black dress.” Guests also received unique name cards crafted as tape measures, elegantly draped over their wine glasses as cherished keepsakes. To add to the event's refined and cohesive look, staff wore black jester pins—a subtle nod to Heritage Portfolio’s brand identity.

Adding a theatrical twist, the evening embraced the theme of a fashion show. A catwalk-style entrance with flashing lights and simulated ‘paparazzi’ effects, created with the expertise of photographer Craig Heaslip, set the stage for an immersive experience. Staff members enthusiastically took on their roles, practicing runway-style movements and adding excitement with each presentation, much to the delight of the guests.

At every stage, Heritage Portfolio’s commitment to creating an experience beyond food was clear. Inspired by the 'Beyond the Little Black Dress' exhibition, the evening transported guests to the front row of a fashion show, where they could enjoy both the culinary delights and the artistry of the event’s design.
