Royal Academy of arts

About

On a winter’s day in 1768, prominent architect Sir William Chambers paid a visit to King George III. He brought with him a petition signed by 36 artists and architects, seeking royal patronage to "establish a school or academy of design for the use of students in the arts", together with an annual exhibition.

Luckily for us the monarch assented to Chambers' request. And so were born the Royal Academy of Arts (RA), the Royal Academy Schools, and what we know today as the Summer Exhibition.

The RA's home in Burlington House, Piccadilly includes fifteen daylight-flooded galleries for hosting large receptions or dinners, while the exquisitely appointed John Madejski Fine Rooms are ideal for more intimate entertaining.

Make your guests' visit even more special with a private view of one of the RA’s blockbuster exhibitions, perfectly complementing the artistry served by our chefs.
