Café Modern one

Café Modern One offers an inspiringly light, bright contemporary space – perfect for taking time out during a tour of the gallery's artworks.

It's one of the prettiest spots in the city for lunch, snacks and drinks, with tables spilling out onto a stone terrace in the beautiful walled garden to the rear of the gallery (NB: terrace open in spring/summer).

There's something for everyone on our seasonal menu that features deli filled sandwiches, zingy salads and hearty soups alongside ever-changing hot daily specials. Everything's prepared on the premises, including a wide selection of artisanal baked treats and showstopper cakes.

Alfresco Saturdays

We’re making the most of summer evenings with Alfresco Saturdays, running every Saturday from 9th–31st August, 7–10pm (weather dependent).

Think seasonal street food, local craft drinks, and a laid-back atmosphere in our peaceful garden space – the perfect way to wind down the week. No booking needed – just turn up and enjoy the food, the fresh air, and the fabulous company.
