Harvesting crops in our Kitchen Garden

At Cafés by Heritage Portfolio, we’re passionate about food and where it comes from. We cook everything from scratch, using the best fresh local and seasonal produce, including vegetables and herbs from our kitchen and herb garden – you can’t possibly source more locally than that!

This autumn everything in the kitchen garden at Café Modern One sure is rosy! In the spring and summertime our brilliant gardener Wendy had been very busy planting and taking care of home-grown vegetables and herbs, such as perpetual spinach, beetroot (red & yellow!), pink chard, neon light chard, mustard greens, bay leaf, chives, garlic chives radish, lemon verbena, chocolate peppermint, oregano, broad leaf thyme, lemon thyme, marjoram, rosemary, pennyroyal mint, winter savoury, Nasturtiums, violas, borage (star flower) and many more delicious produce!

Even though the harvesting season is almost over, we’re still reaping the benefits and serving scrummy dishes made from our very own ingredients! We’ll still be cropping over the winter months – keep an eye out for dishes made with our home grown purple sprouting broccoli, spring cabbage and leeks.
